FIA Withdraws from Negotiations With Eurosport

The FIA has announced that it has concluded its negotiations with Eurosport and that it has not been able to find a solution for the promotion and televising of the World Rally Championship. The following statement was released by the FIA today:

"The FIA regrets to announce it has not proven possible to find an international promoter as well as a global broadcaster for the 2012 World Rally Championship season at this stage in time. more...

Ogier: We're Fit for Rally Sweden

Volkswagen driver Sebastien Ogier has chalked up the accident that prematurely ended his spectacular Monte-Carlo performance to experience. The Frenchman says, "Julien and I both are totally fit."

After the successful season start in Monaco, the Volkswagen Motorsport squad now sets its sights on the second round of the WRC, Rally Sweden from February 9-12.

Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia will be joined in Sweden by rising star Andreas Mikkelsen and co-driver Ola Floene, who will be competing for the Volkswagen factory team for the first time this season. more...

SKODA UK Motorsport driver Andreas Mikkelsen is ready for his second rally of the season – this Saturday’s KNA Rally Finnskog – which he’ll contest in an Evenrally team entered ŠKODA Fabia S2000.

Ford Targets Win on Scandinavian Snow

Ford World Rally Team’s Nordic drivers will aim to extend the squad’s winning grip at the Swedish Rally (February 9-12) next week.

The team has won the last five fixtures of the FIA World Rally Championship’s only true winter encounter and both Finland’s Jari-Matti Latvala and Norway’s Petter Solberg have Swedish victories to their names. more...

Al-Attiyah to Make Citroen Debut

Winner of the 2011 Dakar Rally and P-WRC Champion in 2006, Nasser Al-Attiyah is set to take part in his first rally behind the wheel of a Citroën DS3 WRC in Sweden. Competing as part of the Qatar World Rally Team, his co-driver will be the Italian Giovanni Bernacchini.

Meanwhile, in the Citroën Junior World Rally Team, Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul will continue to learn about the World Championship as they take part in this rally for the first time. more...

Following an impressive debut for the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team at the WRC’s curtain-raiser in Monte-Carlo last month, the Cumbrian-based team will be looking to continue their recent good form as the Championship heads to Sweden for the second round of the season next week.

Citroen's Mikko Hirvonen and co-driver Jarmo Lehtinen head the entry for this Saturday's Rally Finnskog in Svullrya, Norway.

Krzysztof Hołowczyc is coming to America.

Tuesday, WorldRallySport.com broke the news that the ex-European Rally Champion planned to contest the 100 Acre Wood Rally this February 24-25. Hołowczyc confirmed to us today that he is entering the event as we reported.

Hołowczyc will make his competitive U.S. debut driving Arkadiusz Gruszka's Open class-spec 2006 Mitsubishi EVO IX in the Missouri-based rally. He is not yet listed on the event's official entry, but has assured us that he'll be running. more...
