Santa Rosa, Argentina — Norwegian rider Pal-Anders Ullevalseter wins the Santa Rosa stage; it is his first Dakar stage victory in any Dakar. He also gets to second place in the general standings. Santa Rosa, Argentina — Team X-raid GmbH’s Stéphane Peterhansel and Jean-Paul Cottret claimed the fastest time on the 13th and penultimate stage of the 2010 Dakar Rally between San Rafael and Santa Rosa de la Pampa in Argentina on Friday.

Peterhansel’s 55th career Dakar stage win and his 22nd in a car was also his fourth of this Dakar and the sixth out of 13 for Sven Quandt’s Trebur-based BMW X-raid team this year, following single stage wins for both Joan ‘Nani’ Roma and Guerlain Chicherit. more...

The FIA World Rally Championship has introduced a number of new measures for the 2010 season, which aim to reduce costs whilst raising the sporting challenge and increasing media coverage.

A Super 2000 World Rally Championship for Drivers and Co-drivers has been created. The number of qualifying rallies is 10, and at the time of registration the entrant must nominate seven rallies, including two outside Europe, in which to score points. more...
