February 9th, post rally.
Well I suppose an apology is in order. When I woke up on the day of the rally I told myself I would have time to write a full blog that evening. That certainly didn’t happen.
After a quick breakfast of scrambled eggs at 7:30 I drove out to the first stage I was going to cover, set up my camera, and waited. I found a spot that I figured for sure cars would get air off of. I was mistaken; the cars went so fast they just skimmed over the bumps! However the photos started rolling in at an alarming rate and I got swept away quickly in the excitement of rally.
3 stages of shooting later, and many hours of waiting in lines to get out of stages, I finally made it back to rally HQ (after getting lost on the way back, fantastic!) to watch the champagne spray and socialize. However by this time it was nearly 1am. I stayed up for 3 more hours editing photos in hotel lobbies and finally made it to bed at around 4 am, only to hear the alarm ring in my ear at 7:30 to get up for the Banquet.
It was nice to hear the speeches and see the awards given out, but I left relatively early in the morning so I could stop by Parliament on the way back through Ottawa. The flight home was filled with turbulence as I frantically attempted to edit photos for posting when I returned, the gallery is still being updated
hourly with new photos.
Now comes the long wait until the second round of the CRC in Calgary, Alberta. Luckily I have the Cochrane regional rally to tide me over until then!
Cheers.
