Moyle Racing to Contest for Central Open Light Championship at LSPR

Moyle / Putnam Ojibwe SSS1

Houghton, MI, USA — Moyle Racing and the #377 Aarons Dream Machine/ Moyle Companies Rally Car are in Houghton getting all set for LSPR, the final round of the 2009 Rally America Championship Season. With roughly one week until the event, it’s crunch time for the Moyle Racing Team.
The Moyle Racing crew had a very exciting 1st place finish in the new Open Light class at Ojibwe Forest Rally running the Regionals; Paul Bunyan’s Ride and 10,000 Lakes. The Open Light class was highly competitive running the 3 very closely matched cars of #377 of Mason Moyle & Scott Putnam, the #171 of Carl Siegler & Dave Goodman, and the #94 of Piotr Fetela & Mariusz Malik. With Siegler/Goodman DNF’ing on SS 4, Moyle and Fetela were left to duke it out for the class win at the Paul Bunyan’s Ride Rally. Moyle would take the day, edging out Fetala by nearly a minute. “Everything went so smooth,” said Mason, “the car had zero problems and that was a great advantage. Graham Evans, Dan Koski, Gary Barton, and my dad, Kevin did an awesome job making sure that the car was all set and that no service time was wasted. I was really impressed on how much stuff you can check over in 40 minutes.”
By the start of Day 2, the team of Siegler/Goodman, had the car all set to go back out to the stages. With no DNF’s in the Open Light class, all three teams were set to fight for the class win in the 10,000 Lakes Rally. After being almost dead even with Team Fetela in time after 3 stages, Mason and Scott pulled ahead and kept it that way. Winning by nearly a minute once again. This marked the first victory for Moyle Racing and young Mason.
This will be Mason’s first time at the ‘Oldest, Toughest, Meanest Rally on the Circuit’; LSPR. He has been a spectator here for years and can’t wait to get out on some of the hometown roads that he has heard so many stories about. And now with 4 Open Light entries, this certainly will be an exciting race to watch.
