National Guard # 54 - LSPR Day 1

White Oak Motorsports and the #54 National Guard Rally Team have reassembled in the beautiful North Country of Michigan for the final race of the Rally America Cham-pionship series.

With Rookie of the Year sewn up, the team is bringing a whole new attitude and game plan to the race. “We can finally just relax here and have fun, instead of being cautious and driving to maintain position I am going to drive the wheels off the car” says Fox. With no recce for this event, Jake is definitely putting some serious time in with the notes and watching video to prepare. Recce is such a valuable tool to a rookie team and without it the veteran teams have an even greater advantage. Yet, this drive the road style of event seems to of fit our groove for this race. We are just going to have fun with the whole event and enjoy what we have achieved as a team. Everything from multiple personnel changes to the three cars we have used to get through the season have kept us duckin’ and weavin’ . We have learned so much and now, at the end of year we feel super good. Both with the new car and with the team as a whole.

We had Gary Grahn at the rally shop for more than a week of re-prep and and even though this is only the third race in the car for us Mark is ecstatic about the way the car both looks and performed on the practice stages. I (John) can attest having my first ride-along in the new car and all I can say is the thing is sick! Unreal ride, thanks Mark! So we are just doing some final prep and cleaning this morning and looking forward to the racing ahead. Night stages are always a blast and we tend to have good times out there in the dark, maybe it’s the mountain biking background and the late night rides that were standard for years...?

We are also looking forward to spending time with our friends and family who have made the trip to be with us here at LSPR. We are grateful to your support throughout the year and can’t wait to share the race and weekend with everyone! Thanks and lets do this!
