Wow, what an awesome event. Everyone was worried about how the weather might reek havoc on the event, and potentially require the cancellation of stages. However with just a sprinkle of rain Friday night, just enough to keep the dust down, the weather was amazing, also assisting with keeping the event on time. At the starting line there was 25 cars, a good turnout for an event of this size, at this end of the country, and wow was there some quality drivers.
Friday night was eventful, as the sun set the cars rolled out towards the backroads of Merritt BC. Thankfully no one crashed, but the dark roads claimed their fair share of cars. Railyard mall was once again a spectacular spectator point, and allowed for the general public to see the sport we love so much.
Saturday morning was chilly, but beautiful, with not a cloud in the sky, and a warm sun, moods were again revived. Many of the cars that DNF'd Friday were back in the game searching for the regional title. Brook/Thynne were muddy, but fun, those high speed amazing roads are thrilling for drivers/ spectators alike. Heading back into town Nicola North/ South, and AMR gave the drivers some more added challenges. Though I did not get to see these stages, I heard they were awesome. Finally after the last service, the infamous Helmer stage was ready to run, starting almost on time both runs, and even by the end of the rally starting car one 8 minutes late, was amazing from start to end.
The after party sponsored by Boston Pizza was an awesome venue, filled with food/ drink. With not a spare seat in the house, people laughed, and recounted their epic tales of the day. Again another highly successful Merritt event put on by the WCRA. Congratulations to Paul, Tony, Ryan, Dennis and everyone else who put in countless hours of preparation. You guys are amazing, and everyone had a wicked good time.

I look forward to seeing you on my hometown backroads! Next event is Mt. Trial's a smaller regional event but with the the thrills of PFR!!!
