The FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) announced the finalized calendar for the World Rally Championship 2009 season on November 6, 2008.
Several changes have been made to the WRC 2009 calendar, which has been reduced to a total of twelve rounds from fifteen and is now on a new two-year rotation system implemented by the FIA.
The 2009 season will not feature the rallies in Monte Carlo, Sweden, Mexico, Jordan, Turkey, Germany, France, and Japan but will see the return of the events in Norway, Cyprus, Portugal and Australia. The calendar welcomes Rally Poland as a new event.
