Pacific Forest Rally is an awesome Stage event held in Merritt BC each year that draws high quality competitors from all over Canada and the US.
However this year we are short of volunteers... we need your help. There is no experience required, and you don't necessarily need your own car! Please if you are available the days of October 16-17-18, we need you! If you are interested, or want more information either send me a pm, or register to volunteer at www.pacificforestrally.com

See you there!

It is true, this will be my 3rd competative PFR and I am counting the days!

Its an amazing event located in the B.C. interior of Canada. It is the second to last stop on the Canadian Rally Championship calendar and is sure to bring some stiff competition and an exciting finish.

How many entries are we at already?

Nicki

As of October 1st there are 22 entries, with big names such as Antoine L'estage, Andrew Comrie-Picard, and Pat Richard. There are also local names such as Norm LeBlanc, Martin Chung, Warren Currie, and Scott Trinder! And of course local stars Team Alliance! (ha ha- had to get that in there)
There should be some serious competition at each level, making the entire event more interesting. The start order should be posted on October 14th!

Right on, hopefully Rally Defi wasn't too hard on the cars. The attrition was quite severe there. I want a full field of Canada's best at Pacific Forest Rally!

Quick Note to Everyone, I will have 3 cases of Girl Guide Mint Chocolate Cookies at the event and will be looking to offload them. I am a leader for Parthfinders, girls 11-15, all the money raised will be going towards our camping trips, canoe trips, buying a group GPS unit, and many other little costy things. Please come find me if you are interested, they are $4 a box, and really really really good... and an awesome backwoods snack for when you need that little sugar/ comfort burst!

PFR is now up to 27 entries, and the field looks there is going to be some good battles! Tuesday the 14th the start order list will be posted, with the event starting on Thursday morning.

Be sure to keep an eye on the event calendar, to make sure you are up to date with all the latest information.

If you are coming down to Volunteer be sure to pack your long wooly underwear, and snow pants, it might be cold!

It is always an amazing event. I just hope that the weather will be a little nicer to us this year. It did rain off and on all day last Saturday when Paul and I were in Merritt going through the stages.

Lets just hope we don't have a Rocky repeat! If we do I think I'm going to bring a kayak to get around the stages.

Yes, but aleast the service area is on pavement and is for the most part flat. Also every close to Tim's and Taco Del Mar.:D

Agreed! Service at Rocky was a mucky mess. Timmies being right over a fence is much better!

Hey what can I say we try. I do liking being able to call Merritt my home town. I left my camera in Paul's car so as soon as I get it from him I'll have the pics up.

We didn't go down all the satges our main thing was to get the road closer signs up for the event and to check that the trail for the sectators is still good for us to use at Helmer and getting it marked off. But I have some shots of the weather.

Nicki

I'm not taking any risks with the weather, I'm bringing some of everything. Also, I have an appointment at Can Tire 8am Friday morning to get my winter tires put on, its nice to store them at my parents place, but inconvient when I want them on now!

chris

Fingers crossed the snow stays away, SS Helmer can be a little unpredictable if you have snow for the first 10 km and mud for the last 10 km haha.

All is fair in the wonderful world of rally.:p

Nicki

Honestly, I would rather have it snow, then rain. Mud is great for rally cars, but sucky for volunteers, at least in the snow you have something to stand on. Good thing I'm getting out my big furry boots for the after party to defrost my toes warm!

Volunteers have it rough, and I will forever be on my knees in gratitude. An event is not an event with out a core of diehard rally organizers/volunteers. We love you all :)

But then you have to remember to keep it nice and warm, and not let it get freezing, or else its the anti- hand warmer, and Mel might just lick it ;)
Jut joking Mel, I know you would never!

Its always a good idea as a navigator to have a couple "flight bags" ready and waiting :p

That's way too nasty for me. I would not even tough that. It would be like hold your own clipboard while I write on it. Ew. haha

And thats why I am a stage commander, I have super awesome helper staff who get to do that!

Mud is great for rally cars,

um....... i think i would disagree, sorry.. mud sucks for everyone involved you can't go very fast (one of the muddy rockies i could hit a top speed of 125kph on those really really long straights) and for me anyhow is less predictable than ice. And sucks for marshalls and spectators.. i want a dry rally to be honest...

I definitely second that. Bone dry and warm to keep the people out and enjoying the event!

I don't think it will be that bad, check out the weather network, no showers Fri/Sat, however it will be cloudy and cold!
I'm bringing umbrella, rain gear, and snow pants!

I drove the Coquihalla last night to Merritt so I could cast my vote and then drove it back to Abbotsford this morning. The Hwy is nice and dry and the only snow as of right now is just on the peaks of the mountains. This morning the road was bare and dry, however small puddles on the sides of the roads were frozen (at least on the top) but this was at 5:30am and it was still dark out and zero outside. So bring your longjohns cause its going to get nippy.
