When I woke up and realized the car sounded like a jet engine I knew something was wrong.

Looked under the car and realized we had ripped the exhaust in half, ha. Thats replaced and working on skid plates now.

Pretty little car. Does me good. The homidice detective was great when I bought it, really nice guy.

The little red V'dub is ready for PFR! Has to get me around those stages so I can snap the shots!

Where did u get the skid plate made? I think the next investment in the Swifty Swift, is going to be Skids, Pod Lights(and removable mounting bar), and accessory odometer/nav light. Then gravel tires :P

I was recommended to check out this site.

http://www.evolutionimport.com/Volkswagen_Skid_Plates_s/17.htm

But I haven't made a choice yet.

The look on my girlfriends face when I came home and told her the exhaust had fallen off was priceless.

I'm sure it was. Going to have to try to cure you of your granny driving habit. Perhaps a few lessons are in order from someone or I could be your co driver and motivate you with a little shock therapy ;)

I think its more the fear of coming home to the misses with a car I've rolled, or hit a tree with, or a deer with, or a radio check point with.

It's ok to risk it when it's not the daily driver, but I can 100% agree with the fear that you have. I freaked when I got a massive crack accross my windshield on my 1 month old car the first rally I took it on. But hey, you can only protect your baby so much. But I think the skid plate was a very wise investment. Not so much a good thing to puncture something important.

Wise shopping tip of the day- $2.50 Deer Whistle at Can Tire

Pastrana DNF at Snow Drift this year... all thanks to a deer. Poor STI (poor deer too):(
