Was the 2008 Subaru STI a hit for you?
I dunno... for me I prefer the look and feel of the 2004-2006.
It was the definition of RALLY as far as I was concerned.
Maybe there is some technical benefits to the Hatchback, but I mean wider base? Hows is that a major benefit? I'm not a pro so maybe you can educate me on the benefits of the new style.

To me the 2008 sti is so vile looking that any techincal imporvement is outweighed by the ugly. I would definately get an evo-x over that car.

IMO there is nothing vile looking about this car. It breaths and sweats rally.

Subaru = Sexy
Enough said. :D
They do it for me!
I'm really curious how anyone could find that car to be "vile" in any sort of way.
Just my thoughts.

I think the 2008 STi was a hit, with the new shape, it was a nice change to see the progression of the car, however the reviews have been quite mixed about the 2008 WRX and Impreza versions that came in the hatchback, with the sloppier handeling, weaker engine, and lack of *blat* the engine blasts out, people were not very impressed.
Subiesport has an awesome article about the changes made to the new 2009, with another 40hp, stiffer suspension, and many other modifications, subaru dug into their parts bin, and pulled out the best of what they had. Check it out!
Give it two years, there will probably be many 2008 WRX's/ Impreza's on the car lots, great for the non-rally driver, but for those who want to throw it down in the corners, go try the 2009 WRX, or stick with the STi, always a very wise choice.

Pat Richard, Subaru Team Canada, has made a successful run with his '08 STI and I think we will only see this trend continue into next season. Whether it is car, driver, or a combination of the two. The STI has served him well.
