Every year, the Rally America Championship recognizes the driver who has made the most significant progress in their first year of national competition by bestowing them with the ‘Rookie of the Year’ Award. This year, FY Racing’s Adam Yeoman has been nominated as Rookie of the Year for his improved performance.
The 28-year-old driver from Houghton, MI consistently piloted his Open class 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX into the top ten overall on the first four events of the season, finishing within the top five in class each time. Yeoman and co-driver Jordan Schulze had their best result of the year so far at the Oregon Trail Rally where they placed sixth overall and fourth in class.
Yeoman and Shulze’s progression was interrupted at the Susquehannock Performance Trail Rally (STPR) when they rolled their car on Day 2 of the event. Although the crew was uninjured, their crash damaged the car too badly to continue. This was the FY Racing team’s first big wreck and their first retirement of the season. They have since repaired the car in time for the final round of the Series in Maine.
Yeoman now sits sixth overall in the Rally America Championship with a total of 26 points before the New England Forest Rally. RallyCar will present the Rookie of the Year Award at the Awards Banquet following the finish of NEFR on Saturday July 16th.
