Maniwaki, OC, Canada -- Quebec driver Antoine L’Estage, of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, and his co-driver Nathalie Richard (of Halifax, NS) won this weekend’s Rallye Perce-Neige, the first round of the 2011 Canadian Rally Championship. The Hansons piloted their 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STi to victory with a huge lead of 3 minutes and 53.1 seconds over Subaru factory driver Dave Mirra, who took 2nd overall in a 2011 Impreza WRX STi with a total time of 2 hours 31 minutes and 13.6 seconds. Former road racer Verena Mei is set to make her competitive RallyCar debut this January 28-29 at the Sno*Drift Rally in Atlanta, Michigan. Mei will compete in the Rally America season opener co-driving for Wyatt Knox in the Team O’Neil Mazda Speed 3.

Mei plans to launch a rally career within the Series and her maiden event is only the first step in her transition from track-based motorsports to fulltime rallying. Mei’s switch from Drifting and Time Attack was prompted by her desire to try her hand at the challenges and unpredictability that the sport of rally offers competitors. more...

Joseph Burke Moves to Open Class for 2011

Atlanta, GA, USA -- Embarking on their second season in the Rally America National Championship, Joseph Burke and co-driver Alex Kihurani look to improve on their impressive 2010 results. Although the team only contested five of the six rounds of the series, Burke still managed to capture the Rally America Rookie of the Year honors. For 2011, Burke will make the move up to the open class as he contests all six rounds of the Rally America Championship.
