One of the most spectacular seasons in Rally America Championship history came to an end at the New England Forest Rally with Antoine L’Estage and co-driver Nathalie Richard atop of the NEFR podium for the second consecutive year. The privateer Rockstar Rally Team took the lead from the start and held it for the entire duration of the event, winning eight of the eleven special stages. L’Estage finished 48 seconds ahead of Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins. more...

Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins and co-driver Craig Drew are on the verge of winning the 2011 Rally America Championship at this weekend’s New England Forest Rally.

Higgins enters the final round of the Series with a ten-point lead over defending Champion Antoine L’Estage and is seeking to conclude a successful season by bringing the title back to Subaru.

Higgins feels confident going into NEFR after having won the last three rounds of the Championship as well as recently winning the Mt. Washington Hillclimb and breaking the course record by nearly 30 seconds. more...

Antoine L’Estage’s title hopes are still alive as the defending Champion prepares to battle SRT USA’s David Higgins for top honors at the New England Forest Rally.

L’Estage trails Higgins by only ten points and has the advantage of being more familiar with NEFR’s fast, rugged stages. L’Estage celebrated his first-ever Rally America title at NEFR last season after winning the rally and placed third overall here in 2009. more...

We may one day look back on the 2011 New England Forest Rally and smile because we were there to see the history made by Travis Hanson and his father/co-driver Terry Hanson. NEFR closes maybe the perfect rally season for a privateer/sportsman team.

The Hansons started the season seven months ago with an outright win at the Sno*Drift Rally. They battled most of the year at the top of the leader board in points. more...

Through the years American rallying has had its car of choice. At one time the field was full of Datsun 510s. They were fast, inexpensive and parts were readily available. Then came the Mazda RX period when RX2s, RX3s and RX7s filled the fields for the same reasons.

Subaru has had its turn at the front for years but maybe the next marque may become the blue oval from Ford. Certainly it could be a background battle at the New England Forest Rally this weekend. more...

Much of the attention at the New England Forest Rally will be on the front of the field where there’s a battle for the national championship. Further back in the field there’s another battle for cold cash!

NEFR is round two of the MaxAttack! Series and $15,000 in prize money is at stake for the Top 5 crews at the finish. Maybe that’s why 27 2WD cars are entered at NEFR.

Leading the pack is former Open Class contender Andrew Comrie-Picard (ACP), the 2009 North American Rally Champion. He’s entered at NEFR in the 2011 Scion xD ACP drove to victory in Oregon. more...

Tim O’Neil likes to say his Team O’Neil Rally School teaches people how to drive slow cars very fast. Maybe that’s why another school instructor is ready to grab a second straight Rally American 2WD National Championship.

Wyatt Knox has a strong 2WD points lead going into the New England Forest Rally, the final event of the 2011 season. He would follow the championship won last year by fellow school instructor Chris Duplessis. more...
